St. Teresa Verzeri

St. Teresa Verzeri was born on July 31, 1801, in Bergamo, Italy, into a noble Christian family. Guided spiritually by Monsignor Joseph Benaglio, she grew in deep love for God and dedication to His will.
 
Together with Monsignor Benaglio, she founded the Congregation of the Daughters of the Sacred Heart of Jesus on February 8, 1831, in Bergamo. Inspired by the Heart of Jesus, she devoted her life to education, care for the poor and sick, and the spiritual formation of souls.
 
She died in Brescia on March 3, 1852. Pope Pius XII declared her Blessed in 1946, and Pope John Paul II canonized her on June 10, 2001. Her mission continues today through the Daughters of the Sacred Heart of Jesus throughout the world.

Monsignor Joseph Benaglio

Monsignor Joseph Benaglio was born on November 22, 1767, in Bergamo, Italy. Ordained a priest at the age of twenty-two, he served the Church as theologian, Rector of the Seminary, Vicar General, and spiritual director.
 
A man of deep prayer and wisdom, he guided many souls with kindness and devotion. Inspired by the spirituality of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, he co-founded the Congregation of the Daughters of the Sacred Heart of Jesus together with St. Teresa Verzeri on February 8, 1831.
 
He died on January 18, 1836, leaving a lasting spiritual legacy of faith, charity, and loving service to God and His people.
